Do you agree with former President Carter that the animosity that President Barrack Obama faces is because he is a black man?

I do not agree with him because It has nothing to do with the fact that Obama is black that people don't like it . People like are president because he is a good guy not because of his color.
I believe that the color of the skin doesn't matter on how he does. I highly doubt that skin just controls the world. So it pretty much matters on person not skin color.
i think race has nothing to do with it. There is just uneasy fillings by some people and then there is the right wing people who do not agree with the presidents decisions at all. so I think skin color has nothing to do with the issue.
I think color has every thing to do with it, it is a change and a scape goat the american people do not like and or accept change, somethin we americans can turn and blame, and I may be completly off on my thinkings to...i may sound very racist right now but I think it is a major issue anything that has changed through out our history has been a major issue and race being one of them its hard for alot of people to exept at the moment.. people in general all have there thoughts and right now they are thinkin this guy is different not only in his color but his thoughs and beleifes as well........
I do not agree with president Carter at all. Yes our country has had problems with race in the past, but that was at least 40 years ago when we separated people by color and we as a country have come a long way from the 50's and 60's. There is probably very little dislike of Obama just because he is African America. Most of the time if someone plays the racist card it is when they are trying to get something they can't get or they are trying to get out of trouble.
People don't dislike a president because he is black, people dislike a president because he does a bad job and is a bad president. Its just a coincidence that he happens to be both.
I agree with Landon it has a mixture of reasons that President Obama is hated. His color and what he has done to America by being our president is the reason why people hate him, but Americans are racist so why wouldn't race be apart of it.
This is the case with some groups. But for the average person, color has nothing to do with it. And I think that the election of an African American president shows that race relations have improved. I believe that Obama's policies are the reasons that people don't like him.
I believe that it has to deal with racism and the policies that the president has proposed to congress! First of all this was a change that the majority of the Americans wanted, Mr. Obama as president (not just African American, but also the young age group)! On the other hand, people are not in the greatest mood in the world, we are in a time of a recession and people need help with their lost jobs and mortgage, and who do the people look up to? It is the government, they ask themselves what can we do about this situation, and I believe that the president has so much work and stress to deal with, that the policies and proposals are leading the American people to think that he wasn't capable to handle the problems. Therefore, since he has the ethnicity of being African American, people think that he isn't capable of handling the situations the country is facing! So since we are all desperate to get out of this recession, we don't have patience to deal with the situations around us. So I believe it can be a little bit of both and the president is between both, but not much on racism, because there are cases of racism, but the American people have gone a long way of avoiding discrimination of minor groups , but are also desperate to get out of this crisis. Therefore we are not seeing results and we ponder if the policies proposed are worth being passed.
I Agree with President Carter. A lot of the problems Obama is facing is because of the fact that he is an Africa American. Because if Bush would have given any kind of speech no one would through a fit. They would think that, that was the best thing that was happening. So Yes in a way President Carter is correct. Most of the problems we face is because our President is black.
I agree with President Carter. Alot of the problems we face today is because President Obama is African American. People keep throwing fits because of it. I 100% agree is a race issue.
seeing that we now have an African American President, i dont agree with former President Carter. Americans obviously don't have a problem with his skin color and his election shows that.
I believe that the hate against Odama is racist and then also its also about some of the things he is doing.
i think skin color has a little yo do with it. people don't like change and this is a change we don't know if its good or bad having our first black president. he could be worse then bush or he could be better we don't know its not because he's black that people don't like him but people think its a reason not to so thats what they use as their reason for hating Obama.
If you do not agree it is about race "YOU LIE" it is entirly about race no one likes him and its not because he has bad ideas its simply because he is BLACK.... Bush had some pretty bad ideas and was probably one of the most disliked presidents and even he didn't have this many problems......
I feel that its not racist its more prejudice that people are not liking him. Everyone is prejudice even if they say they are not
I don't agree with former President Carter. It's completely obvious that his race has nothing to do with the animosity people are showing towards him. I've the people had a problem with what color his skin is they wouldn't have voted him president. The animosity president Obama is facing is because some people are disagreeing with the things he has to say and would like to do for our country. Race, I'm sure maybe have to be a tiny bit of the problem but it's definetly not the entire reason why.

I think color has every thing to do with it, it is a change and us as americans don't like or accept change.
Everyone is racist so why wouldn't this have anything to do with it. As Paul and Landon said it is a combination of color and the duty he has as president. To me he has yet to clinch America for their trust.
Ya there is alot of hicks and rednecks that dont like him cuz he is a spook but it dont matter me none hes just another rule maker bringin me down....
I think that since we have not had a black president before the people did not know how to react. Also its like what corbin said people dont want to accept change at all. His policies are what people hate they just use that he is black as an escape goat.
I think that race does have a part in it because he is the first black president and there are people out there that don't like that fact. Also some of it could be his policies that people won't agree with or think that they are wrong.
I agree with landon people dislike the president because he hasn't done the greatest job so far. Race just gets thrown in the question because he is black.
I really do believe that race has an issue in this factor. Most Americans believe that there perfect president has to be a white man that was born and raised in the United States and not just a black man that barely made the requirements to be our President. Also because people to this date are still pretty racial when it comes to them being led by a black man.
Yes i do think that a lot of the bad things Obama faces is because he is a black man. If any other president would have been worried about some of the things that he is, or would have stated something in the way Obama has, there wouldn't have been as big of problems or any of the outbursts that he has to face, such as the "you lie." If he were white, nobody would disrespect him in the way people do now.
I really think the race issue is only there among a small group of people, but its being blown up by the media and political parties as a means of pushing political agendas. So in a sense, yeah, he's getting this flack because he's black, but not because the public actually has a problem with it, so much as a few people are trying to make it seem like the public has a problem with it.
NO, I do not agree with the former President. If we had a problem with Barrack "Hussein" Obama being black why was he elected our president? and no matter who the President is they will all have protesters
Honestly In my opinion I think it's half and half. I Somewhat believe carter. Some say that race has nothing to do with this at all but i disagree. Yes, people don't like him because of his decisions and policies. But you can't tell me that people don't like him because he is Black. THAT is the only reason why SOME OF us don't like HIM. I think they're will always be racist people no matter how far in the future we get, There will always be someone who doesn't like you because of the color of your skin, and everyone needs to realize it. some people hate him just cause he's african american, some hate him cause they dont agree with his opinions. its half and half
Really i think alot o people have gotten over race and they look at more of what he is doing instead of that hes black. it think saying that we treat him the way we do because he is black is dumb because most of the comments that where said didnt have anything to do with black people at all. so i disagree
i dont really think its an issue of race as much as it is his policies. people just blame race and accuse everyone of being racist cuz theres a black dude running the country and not everyone agrees with him. Were not the same as our slave trading ancestors but everyone still has prejudice thoughts. political people just want stuff to argue about and skin color is what they chose.
